Tournament Outline

Players participate in either Even Games or Handicap Games.

All contestants will play in a preliminary tournament, and the top 16 contestants will compete in the final tournament.

Playing Rules

Note: Players must enter this event with their highest rated IGS account name.
Even Games
All games on even, Black gives a komi of 5 1/2.
The time allowance is 10 minutes per side, with overtime of 25 moves every 15 minutes.
In the preliminary tournament, the contestants decide among themselves who takes Black. In the main tournament, this will be decided by the tournament organizers.

Handicap Games
Difference in Rating = handicap.
The time allowance is 10 minutes per side, with overtime of 25 moves every 15 minutes.
The maximum number of handicap is 9. When the difference in rating is more than 9, please set handicap to 9.


Preliminary Tournament
The participants will play freely among themselves, and must complete at least six games within the specified period. (You can't play the same opponent twice.) Places will be decided by the method described below, and the top 16 placegetters will qualify for the main tournament.

  1. Points will be obtained by the following system, and the players will be ranked in descending order of their points totals.

    points = winning percentage
    (number of wins/number of games) +number of wins x 0.02


  2. When players have the same number of points, the player with the greater number of wins will be ranked higher.

  3. When the players are still tied, the player with the higher SOS (sum of opponents' scores) will be ranked higher.

  4. When the players are still tied, the player with more wins with white will be ranked higher.

  5. If the players are still tied, they will be ranked equal.

Main Tournament
The 16 players who win their way through the preliminary tournament will compete in the main tournament. The draws will be decided by the tournament office. The days of the games will be decided by consultation among the players, but must be within the specified period.
