The other day I played Pair Go for the first time and I experienced an interest different from ordinary go. I know that you play Pair Go in the professional Ricoh Cup tournament. What do you think are the interesting points of Pair Go? |

Hello, Mr. Tachikawa. Thank you for your question.
I've played in the Ricoh Cup a number of times, so I've played a lot of Pair Go. It's always a lot of fun. One of the interesting things about Pair Go is that when you play in teams the game is much more full of variety and you get unexpected variations. Perhaps the best thing about Pair Go is that when you play a good move or win a game, your partner rejoices with you.
When you're playing Pair Go, the weaker partner tends to worry too much about upsetting the stronger partner and so gets too nervous. This easily leads to a vicious circle, so the stronger player should try to create a gentle atmosphere and guide the partner.
Pair Go is a test of the stronger player's magnanimity. I hope you continue to enjoy Pair Go. |
