I’m a beginner who became a subscriber to PandaNet three months ago. Since it’s so easy to play on the Net, I sometimes play more than ten games a day, but if I play too much, my go gets careless and sloppy. Do you think it’s important to play a lot of games to get better? Which is the shortcut for a beginner: to play only games in which you really concentrate hard or to play as many games as you can? I would be grateful for your opinion. |

Hello, Mr. Nakayama. I see you’re a new member. Thanks for joining PandaNet. I hope you enjoy playing on the Net.
Well, your question is about whether to go for quantity or for quality. In the old days I used to play a large number of games every day. In particular, when I lost I’d get upset, and challenge the winner to another game. I’d lose again, get upset again, challenge again, and lose again. The process was endless. The more I lost the more upset I got.
There’s something about losing games on the Net that really upsets you. I wonder why.
Well, this is a low level on which to begin my answer. My opinion is that it’s better to play games in which you can concentrate properly. If you play too many games, you get tired. Playing when you’re tired doesn’t help much in making progress. If you want to play a lot of games, maybe it’s a good idea to take a break between them.
Anyway, I can see from your question that you are really enjoying go. The best thing is not to be programmatic but just to enjoy playing. If you enjoy playing, progress will follow naturally.
I hope my advice is of some help. |
