When my opponent plays a good move during a game, I get upset and go to pieces. I want to change this bad habit, but am having no success. How can one cope with this kind of situation? |

Hello, Mr. Sugita. Thank you for your letter.
I can understand your getting upset when your opponent plays a good move. This happens to me, too. It may be a problem for everyone, regardless of go strength. I hope it will help you if I tell you how I try to deal with it.
I believe that in most cases when you think the opponent has played a good move there’s a move of your own before it that you regret. You can review your play after the game, so I suggest you try to focus on the present position and finding the best move for your next move.
Another thing is to get into the habit of always looking at the whole board. This will also make a difference.
I hope that this helps you. Please enjoy your go more and more! |
