PlayNow that you have configured your match settings, you can begin playing. To see the list of players available for playing games, click on the Play a game button. The Main window also has a Chat button. To open the
Chat window, click the Chat button in the Main window. More on Chat

After clicking on the Play a game button, the Entry seek window will appear. Seek will automatically start a game with another player whose Seek settings are within your Seek parameters. Click on Entry to enable Seek, or Cancel to continue looking for games on your own.
After clicking on Entry or Cancel, the Users window will appear. This example displays all the players available, but if you set Config 1 to display players within a rating range, only those players will appear in this list. Select the player you would like to play and click on Match. You can also click on Tell to chat with the player beforehand. The Stats button will display information about the player. The Chat window has several buttons on the right edge for sending Tells, checking a player's Stats, sending a Match request, or leaving a Message. You may also add a player to your Friends list or set up a NetMeeting. The bottom of the Chat window has two drop-down menus, the one on the left for the recipient of your message, and the one on the right for the actual message. In the left-hand menu, (all) is for Shout and (channel all) is for chatting in Channels. You may enter any player's name to the menu. From the menu on the right, you may select from a list of your edited messages, or you may enter other text on the entry line next to the menu button. To enter a Channel, you must go to the Terminal window and use either the Yell command or the semi-colon. ex: yell \98 or ; \98
After choosing a player and clicking on Match, the following window will appear.
If a match request is accepted, the game board will appear. Click on the playing board to place your move. When a game is started and your playing board comes up, you may right-click it for a pop-up menu of options, such as rotation, the default is 180 degree rotation, ie your opponent's move in his upper right corner appears on your board in the bottom left. There is a banner in the lower right which changes color and indicates whose turn it is to move. There are buttons here to change the komi, change the handicap, and check on your connection. There are Chat and Tile Chat buttons, and buttons for Pass, Resign, and Undo. Note, however, that there is no button for Adjourn, the Panda-IGS client does not support Adjourn, if your opponent request an Adjourn, he receives an auto-response from the system denying his request, you see nothing. Once the game is completed, the buttons in the lower right change. There is now a Rematch button, for starting another game with the same opponent, and a Review button, for starting a Review of the finished game. Note that your opponent must have a client that supports Review in order to receive an invitation to the Review. |
