I think it is the fact that you can deepen your thinking.
A person who has just started Go and a master player can each enjoy Go at his
or her own level. That's because you can work out a plan that suits you, try
it out on the Go board, and find out its merits and demerits. A defective plan
will benefit the opponent and fail to secure a good result. However, it will
make your opponent very happy, so this is the "hospitality" of Go.
Fail with a big invasion and die on a large scale.
That's what may happen. By playing Go, you learn the areas in which you are i
nadequate, and by deepening your thinking, not only do you improve your skill,
you can also experience personal growth. I think that this is the irreplaceab
le pleasure of Go.
