As a professional go player, what are your goals for the next five years? If you were asked this question, how would you answer?

Hello. Thank you for the question.

As some of you may know, I have been resting from games since August of the year before last. At present, my life centres on managing my husband's schedule and bringing up my children. My rest period will soon reach two years. I consider it an honour when some people I know recommend me to make a comeback, but personally I won't be ready for a little while longer.

My good point and my bad point is that I go all out at whatever I do. When I play go, I devote all my energy to it, without thinking of anything else.

This was feasible for me until I got married, but now that I am a wife and a mother, I am really necessary to my family, so I can't concentrate just on my own affairs. I find it frustrating not to have enough time for everything, but I want to live my life to the best of my ability, concentrating on the things that I can do only now. Children grow up quickly, and there are many things more important to me than playing go.

Also, after becoming a professional, I lived a life under the constant pressure of playing games, so my life now feels very fresh. Now, when I think of it, it seems that perhaps studying go, and studying go to play games, was in many ways a superficial acquirement. My elder daughter now plays go, and playing through games with her is a valuable experience that has opened my eyes anew to the fun and the essentials of go.

I want to spend my life preparing properly for my comeback, so that both I and my family will be healthy and I can enjoy go to my heart's content.
