As a professional go player, what are your goals for the next five years? If you were asked this question, how would you answer? |

My concrete goals are:
1. to play in a title match;
2. to compete at a higher level in the general tournaments;
3. to increase the amount I study, as I will have to raise my strength a lot for the first two goals.
That's my answer. I have no confidence . . . especially about the third goal.
Five years may seem like a long time, but they pass in a flash. Last autumn my heart was filled with admiration when I read the articles about Xie winning the Women's Honinbo title five years in a row. 'How fantastic to win five in a row at such a young age!' I thought.
In passing, I tried to look back on the previous five years of my career, but I couldn't recall anything. A bit of a memory loss. The only out-of-the-way thing that had happened was that somehow my pet cats had increased to five, but that has nothing to do with my go career.
I don't know if I will be able to achieve my goals over the next five years, but I hope I won't have miserable days that lead to memory lapses.
The only thing I want to avoid over the next five years is having my cats increase to ten.
