At present, I am 8-kyu. I am little better than a beginner. I've studied life-and-death problems and tesujis and have become a little more confident in hand-to-hand fighting. However, in the endgame, my territory is taken away from me, and I often end up losing by two or three points. I think that I am making mistakes in counting territory, but I am just unable to get a precise idea of territory. What study methods are there for getting stronger at the endgame?

Hello, Mr. Yoshikawa. Thank you for your question.
It's splendid that you are studying life-and-death problems and tesujis. I'm glad to hear that this is helping you in the fighting.
It's really upsetting when you slip up in the endgame and lose a game by a few points. Actually . . . I also have trouble with the endgame.
As for methods of studying the endgame, calculation and reading ability are important here, so I think studying tesujis is important. In contrast to the opening and the middle game, I think that the endgame has quite a lot of similar patterns. Whether or not you know endgame tesujis will make a big difference. I also recommend you to study the numerical values of frequently occurring patterns. (^-^)
I also recommend getting into the habit of asking yourself whether or not answering your opponent's moves is really big. ô
Please keep up your study of life and death and tesujis. I'm sure this will lead to good results.
