I am 10-kyu, but recently I just seem to fluctuate between 10-kyu and 11-kyu*.When I get promoted to 10-kyu, I just lose game after game and drop down to 11-kyu*. I then score successive wins and come back to 10-kyu. |

Hello, Mr. Masukawa. Thank you for your question.
I admire you for your zealous and regular study.
I think that everyone has the experience at least once of feeling that they have stopped making progress. I teach go at a class for children, and there are some children who get stuck at the same kyu for a while. But if they keep studying normally, sooner or later they get over this problem.
As for study method, playing through games and solving life-and-death problems are good ways to study, but I also recommend playing a lot of games. It's also very important to review your games. If you go over your games carefully, you'll be able to improve your play in future games. In my case, if I can't go over the game with the opponent, I review it by myself and reflect on my mistakes.
If you are enjoying playing go, I'm certain that in time you'll overcome this problem. Keep doing your best but focus on having fun. |
