Woman professional Go players will answer your questions in turn.
question2
I am working hard to increase the number of professional women players.
It’s more difficult with girls than with boys to get them interested in go.
Please tell me if there’s some good advice I could give them as teacher.

Increasing the number of women professionals! This is really good news for us women professionals. I think the biggest factor is individual talent, but the environment is also important too. When I look back on my childhood, the best point was that I had rivals, so I became fond of go. I think that it was through competing with other children that I got stronger.

There’s a tendency with teachers to be too strict because of overzealousness. Because of that, quite a few children get to dislike go. It’s also important to praise children when they play a good move or win a game.

To go on to the question of training children to become professionals, I think the shortcut is to get professional instruction for them. Recently, people are becoming professionals at younger and younger ages, so the earlier children become insei the better.

I look forward to playing some of the children you are teaching in official games one day. I wish you the best of luck with your teaching.
