How do you overcome the problem when you are playing a game that’s tough for you? |

Games that are ‘tough for you’ could be divided into two types: against opponents one does badly against and in tough conditions.
When playing an opponent they do badly against, many players go through records of his or her games before the match in order to plan their strategy. In the case of amateurs, game records won’t usually be available, so this method is not applicable. If, for example, the opponent in question is a strong fighter, you could study professional games with a lot of fighting, or seek out a strong fighter and play practice games with him or her. This way you may conquer your concern about this opponent.
Next, difficult conditions. If, for example, you are weak at fast games or playing with tournament clocks, then the answer is simple: practice under these conditions. Get friends to play lots of fast games with you or games using clocks. This should be effective. |
