Starting Saturday the 29th of January 2005 IGS-PandaNet is happy to
organize the 1st World Go Championship by Internet. You strength
does not matter, so everybody can join.
However, you can only enter the tournament after
registration. Registration will start the 11th of
January and closes the 24th of January.
The tournament will be played from the 29th of January 2005
through the 17th of April 2005.
The winner will be the 1st Internet World Go Champion.
- Pre-registration is required. No entry fee.
- The 3rd round of the preliminary tournament features both the qualified
amateurs from the 1st round and the professional participants.
- These first 6 rounds will be played on IGS through the internet.
- The top 8 players who come through the qualification tournament
will be invited to Tokyo to participate in the main tournament to
decide the winner of the 1st Open Internet World Go Champion.
These games will be covered live on IGS and commentated by a professional.
- The tournament structure basically is a knockout system with the exception
of the 1st round where the number of games will depend on the number of
participants.
- The thinking time is 1 minute main time + 25 moves in 10 minutes extra time.
- Face to Face games (semi-final --- final), 30 seconds every moves and 10 times of 1 minutes extra time.
- All games are even with 6.5 komi.
- The color (white or black) will be decided by the organizers.
